As per Mayan calendars, the world will end on 21 December, 2017. But what Hinduism and Hindu astrology predicts and reacts on this issue. Read on to know about the predictions or clarifications given by reputed Hindu Astrologers of India.

As per Hinduism, our Maharshi or Rushis divided our time into four Mahayugas – Kruta Yugam, Treta Yugam, Dwapara Yugam, and Kali Yugam. ‘Yuga Pramanam’ is the time duration of a Mahayugam. The below given statistics describe the Yuga Pramanam of each Mahayuga.
  • Kruta Yuga – 17,28,000 years
  • Treta Yuga – 12,96,000 years
  • Dwapara Yugam – 8,64,000 years
  • Kali Yuga – 4,32,000 years
Our great Vedas state that there would be a Sandhi (gap) between each Yuga which is known as Yuga Sandhi. During this, every living thing will be destroyed and the evolution process restarts after the Yuga Sandhi. Our Earth may exist for more than 4,26,902 years as per the calculation above. Definitely, the Earth will be doomed one day but not December 21, 2012. The Dooms Day of the Earth may not come before next 4 Lakh and odd years.

Sri Butte Veerabhadra Daivagna, renowned astrologer and Panchanga Kartha based at Andhra Pradesh, states: “We cannot deny the possibilities of natural disasters in and the surrounding places of Mayans on December 21, 2012, but the day will not be the Dooms Day for the Earth”. Sri Butte Veerabhadra Daivagna is the famous Jyotish based at Rajahmundry and he is the Asthana Jyothish for Srisailam Bramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh. He is also honored with many national and international awards related to Hindu Astrology.

Adhik Maas or Adhika masam is an extra month which comes in Lunar Hindu Calendar (both – Amavasyant & Purnimant Panchangams) for every 28 to 36 months. In 2017, Adhik month comes as Adhik Bhadrapad month i.e. Bhadrapad month comes twice in 2017 – Adhik & Nija Bhadrapad maasa.

Adhik Bhadrapad month 2017 in North Indian Hindi Calendar: from August to August 2017

Adhika Bhadrapada Maas 2017 in Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada & Telugu calendars: from August September 2017.

‘Adhika Masa (also called ‘Mala masa and ‘Purshotthama masa) is not followed in Assam, Bengal, Kerala, Orissa and Tamil Nadu since they follow the 365 day calendar.

A lunar year has 354 days while a solar year has 365 days. This means, at the rate of 11 days a year, in the course of 2 years 8 months, the difference is 29 and a half days equal to a lunar month. Therefore every 33rd month is considered an ‘Adhika Masa.

They lived a happy life together and when they died Dhananjay attains the heaven whereas his brother, Krishna, was sent to hell. It is because of their results of puja and daan during the month of Kartik. Dhananjay performed Kartik Snan and donated a pumpkin full of gold to a Brahmin. Grah Pravesh Muhurata 2017
We all wish that the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house. Grah Pravesh is a ceremony performed on the occasion of one's first entry into a new house. This is a very important occasion for any family as home is where your entire world is. Once the house is ready, the family moves in on an auspicious day that is determined by the astrological charts. Purity of panchang (almanac) and auspicious time (muhurat) must be considered during the Grah Pravesh. This is so because it is believed that the new acquisition is susceptible to evil forces and jealousy and therefore various 'safeguard' ceremonies must be performed. This ceremony aims to appease the gods and planets so that the owner of the house is blessed with good fortune. The Grah Pravesh Muhurata 2012 list given below is a small way of saying we care.
Date Month Day Star / Yoga
19 January Thursday Anuradha
28 January Saturday Uttara Bhadra
02 February Thursday Rohini
03 February Friday After Bhadra
24 February Friday Tritiya
18 April Wednesday Uttara Bhadra
13 June Wednesday After Bhadra
