In Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia it is on April 14
In Sri Lanka it is on April 13

It must be noted here that in 2008, the Government of Tamil Nadu had officially made Pongal, the Tamil New Year. A major highlight of the Tamil New Year is the viewing of ‘Kanni’ – meaning auspicious things. Legend has it that viewing auspicious things on this day will bring good fortune throughout the year.

After viewing the Kanni, it is time for a ritualistic bath. After the bath, it is time to draw the ‘Kolam’ or Rangoli (Tamil New Year Kolams). The ‘kolam’ is believed to bring good fortune to the famil members. Then, the doorways are decorated with mango leaves.

After this the family assembles for prayers. The prayers begin with the lighting of the traditional lamp (kuthu vilakku).

The lamp is placed next to a brass bowl with a short neck, which contains water and is decorated with mango leaves – called the niraikudum.

Then, it is time to head to the nearby temples to seek the blessings of the Gods. In some temples, people gather to listen to the Tamil Panchangam, which contains the predictions of the coming year.

Happy Baisakhi Festival 2012 Celebration | Vaisakhi 2012 Date SMS

Baisakhi Festival 2012 - Vaisakhi Festival, Baisakhi India vasakhi, vaisakhi, baisakhi, baisakhi 2012, baisakhi sms vaisakhi 2012 baisakhi vaisakhi 2012, baisakhi 2012, baisakhi sms, happy baisakhi, vaisakhi When is Vaisakhi Day 2012? - Date of Vaisakhi Day 2012
Baisakhi Bhangra
For people in northern parts of India, especially the Sikhs, Baisakhi is a mega event - it is a religious festival, harvest festival and New Year's Day all rolled into one. In April, this day marks the beginning of the Hindu solar New Year. In fact, this day is celebrated all over the country as New Year day, under different names. For the Sikh community, Baisakhi has a very special meaning. It was on this day that their tenth and last Guru - Guru Gobind Singh - organized the Sikhs into Khalsa or the 'pure ones'. By doing so, he eliminated the differences of high and low and established that all human beings are equal.

Baisakhi Festival Date 13th April 2012 or April 14th 2012

Sikhs assign quite a different meaning to Baisakhi, and if you happen to be in a Punjabi village to catch the men performing the wild bhangra dance, you'll get the clear picture. This strenuous dance tells the story of the agricultural process, from tilling the soil through harvesting. As the dholak (drum) changes beats, the dancing sequence progresses, dramatizing plowing, sowing, weeding, reaping, and finally celebrating. Baisakhi also commemorates the day in 1689 when Guru Gobing Singh founded the Khalsa, the fighting Sikh brotherhood that donned the distinctive Sikh outfits.
Sikhs visit temples, such as the Golden Temple in Amritsar, where the holy Granth is read, commemorating the day on which the Guru asked five volunteers to offer their lives, then took them one at a time into a tent. He emerged each time with a bloody sword, although he had in fact sacrificed a goat. In honor the "Beloved Five," a series of parades are held, in which sets of five men walk in front of the holy book with swords drawn. When the ceremony is over, a round of feasting, music-making, and dancing begins, amid the blossoming flowers and harvested grain.
Baisakhi has special significance for two of India's major religious groups. For the Hindus, it is the start of the New Year, and is celebrated with requisite bathing, partying, and worshipping. It's believed that thousands of years ago, Goddess Ganga descended to earth and in her honor, many Hindus gather along the sacred Ganges River for ritual baths. The action is centered in the holy cities along the Ganges in north India, or in Srinagar's Mughal Gardens, Jammu's Nagbani Temple, or anywhere in Tamil Nadu. Hindus plant poles (wrapped in flags of god-embroidered silk) in front of their homes, and hang pots of brass, copper or silver on top.
Children wear garlands of flowers and run through the streets singing "May the new year come again and again!" In Kerala, the festival is called 'Vishu'. It includes fireworks, shopping for new clothes and interesting displays called 'Vishu Kani'. These are arrangements of flowers, grains, fruits, cloth, gold, and money are viewed early in the morning, to ensure a year of prosperity. In Assam, the festival is called Bohag Bihu, and the community organizes massive feasts, music and dancing.

Shani Sade Sati 2012 | Sani Sade Sati 2012 Remedies | Saturn Sade Sati 2012

Shani Sade Sati 2012, Shani Sade Sati 2012 Remedies, Sade Sati 2012, Saturn Sade Sati 2012, Sani Sade Sati 2012

Will you be passing through Shani Sade Sati in year 2012? If yes, how will Shani Dev impact you? What should be the remedies to overcome any possible problem?

Sade Sati is a transition phenomenon of Saturn (Shani). When Saturn or Shani transit through twelfth, first and second house from the natal moon of birth chart, the period is termed as Sade Sati. Saturn takes two and half years to transit from one house to another house (hence is called Dhaiya meaning 2 1/2 years) so the transit of Saturn or Shani through these three houses takes seven and half years which is a literal meaning of Shani Sade Sati.

The Saturn's Sadesati - a 7 1/2 year long period is something that every person must undergo in his life more than once. Sadesati unleashes the full impact of Saturn on you, says Vedic Astrology.

Saturn entered into Zodiac Sign Libra at 10:11 AM IST on November 15, 2011. At that time Saturn was direct and in Chitra nakshatra's third quarter. Saturn will remain in Zodiac Sign Libra only throughout the year 2012. Due to transit of Saturn in sign Libra, Zodiac sign Virgo/ Libra/ and Scorpio will be under the influence of Saturn. So if your moon sign (Rashi) is Virgo, Libra or Scorpio, only then do you need to be bothered about Shani Sade Sati in Year 2012.

Shani Sade Sati for Zodiac Sign Virgo - "Setting Phase"

This position of Moon is regarded "on Leg" as Saturn will be in 2nd house from your natal moon sign Virgo. This is also called "Setting Phase of Shani Sade Sati" as this the last 2.5 years of your Shani Sade Sati. The period will not be awfully beneficial to you. You might face problems related to money matters. Tuning with your own people and your relatives may get disturbed. Give proper attention to our day to day pursuits. This is not a perfect time for taking any risk regarding business matters as the chances of loss are very high during this period. Health ailment of your parents can disturb your peace of mind. You will not be able to fulfill your family's expectations.

As this is 'setting' period of Shani's Sade Sati and Saturn will be transiting in the 2nd house from the natal Moon , it indicates difficulty on financial and domestic front. You will start feeling slight relief after having two difficult phases of Sade Sati. Still, misunderstandings and financial stress can be seen during this period. Expenses may keep soaring high and you need to continue exercising control. Sudden financial losses and fear of theft is also a possibility. You may be pessimistic in thinking, you are advised to deal with matters enthusiastically. You will require paying good attention to family and personal front, otherwise those can also lead to a bigger problem. For students, education may be slightly affected and they will have to work harder to hold on to their existing level. Results will be slow and almost always with the delay. This is a period which indicates danger and apart from other things, you need to be careful while driving. If possible, stay away from non-veg and your drinking habits to keep Saturn happy. You will be able to sail through this period by intelligently handling your domestic and financial matters.
Shani Sade Sati for Zodiac Sign Libra - "Peak Phase"

This position of Moon is regarded "on Heart" as Saturn will be transiting through your Moon Sign Libra. This is also called "Peak Phase of Shani Sade Sati". This is not the best period to begin new long-term relationships/ friendships. There could be vital issues in professional or personnel life which can cause anxiety. It's always better to be optimistic than to be pessimistic .There is also a contraction in love and feelings mostly due to which the satisfaction level would be poor. The chance of happiness in love is low. Birth of an issue may bring happiness in your home. New relationships will have less than normal chances of taking off controversy and issues could come up. Good stability of mind is seen at the last phase of this period.

This is the peak of Shani's Sade Sati. Generally this phase of Saturn is the most difficult one. Saturn transiting over natal Moon indicates health problems, there may be diseases related to wind and cold.Character assassination, problems in relationship, mental afflictions, and sorrows. You will find it difficult to achieve success in this period. You may not get results of your hard work and feel restricted. Your constitution and immune system will not be strong. As first house is the house of health, you should start exercising and taking care of your health, otherwise you can be caught by chronic diseases. You may suffer from depression, unknown fear or phobia. Your will lack clarity in thinking, action, and decision making. You will be spiritually inclined and will be attracted by intricacies of nature. Acceptance and doing basics right will sail you out of this period.
Shani Sade Sati for Zodiac Sign Scorpio - "Rising Phase"

This position of Moon is regarded "on Head" as Saturn will be transiting through 12th from your Moon Sign Scorpio. This is also called "Rising Phase of Shani Sade Sati". This is not a very satisfactory period for you. You may get indulge into sudden losses financially. Loss of money due to litigation and disputes is also possible. Failure in attempts will make you feel frustrated. You will have to slog as the work burden will be too much. Family life will also create tensions. Don't try to take risks in business matters as period is not very harmonious to you. Your enemies will try to tarnish your image. Loss of money will be quite evident.

Since this is the starting period of Shani's Sade Sati it generally indicates financial loss, problems by hidden enemies, aimless travel, disputes, and poverty. During this period, you may face problems created by your hidden enemies. Relationship with your colleagues will not good enough and they will create problems in your work environment. You may also face challenges on your domestic front. This may create pressure and tension. You need to exercise control over your spending otherwise it be lead to bigger financial problems. Long distance travels may not be fruitful during this period. Saturn's nature is of delay and dejection, but generally you will get results eventually, so be patient and wait for your turn. Take this period as learning period, put your hard work and things will fall in place. You are advised not to take high risks in business matters in this period.
